Job description

DFP Recruitment is seeking a Business Analyst to support data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence initiatives. Working with business stakeholders and technical specialists, you will gather and document requirements, analyse processes and help deliver practical, responsible and user-centred solutions.
Reporting to the Delivery Lead, you will support projects from discovery through to implementation, prepare business cases and AI impact assessments, maintain requirements and delivery records, and coordinate workshops, sprint ceremonies and stakeholder engagement. You will work independently within agreed priorities and escalate complex or high-risk matters as required.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Business analysis and requirements: Plan and undertake requirements elicitation through interviews, workshops, document analysis and observation. Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and traceability artefacts.
- Problem definition and benefits: Work with stakeholders and technical teams to define the business problem, users, current state, desired outcomes, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, measures of success and expected benefits.
- Delivery support: Assist the Delivery Lead with delivery planning, prioritisation, backlog refinement, dependency management, status reporting and the coordination of actions, decisions, risks and issues.
- Agile ceremonies: Support the establishment and facilitation of sprint planning, daily stand-ups, showcases, retrospectives and other delivery ceremonies. Prepare agendas and materials, capture outcomes and follow through on agreed actions.
- Governance and assurance documentation: Prepare, coordinate and maintain high-quality governance artefacts such as business cases, AI impact assessments, risk and issue records, decision briefs, pilot plans, evaluation documentation and committee papers, working with relevant subject matter experts and approval bodies.
- Stakeholder engagement and workshops: Build productive relationships across business, data science, technology, privacy, legal, security, risk and responsible AI functions. Design and facilitate workshops and communicate complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Executive and administrative support: Provide practical administrative and coordination support to the Portfolio Director & Delivery Lead, including diary and meeting coordination, preparing agendas and papers, managing correspondence and follow-up actions, maintaining key records and trackers, and assisting with routine reporting and other priorities as required. This support is intended to improve the efficient operation of the portfolio and complement, rather than replace, broader business analysis and delivery responsibilities.
