About the Role 

Smith & Co Recruitment is currently seeking experienced, trade-qualified Boilermakers for multiple workshop-based opportunities with established engineering and manufacturing businesses across Brisbane. 

These roles offer consistent, long-term work with the potential to transition into permanent employment for the right candidates. 

You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of fabrication projects, including heavy-duty mining equipment, architectural metalwork, industrial machinery, custom-engineered components and truck-mounted equipment. 

We're looking for skilled Boilermakers who take pride in their workmanship, have strong welding and fabrication skills and enjoy working in professional workshop environments.

Key Responsibilities 

• Fabricate and weld steel and metal components to specifications 
• Perform MIG welding, cutting, grinding and general fabrication duties 
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans 
• Manufacture and assemble structural and custom metal components 
• Work on mining equipment, truck bodies and industrial machinery 
• Operate workshop machinery, hand tools and fabrication equipment 
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies to maintain quality standards 
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment 
• Collaborate with workshop teams to meet production requirements 

Skills & Experience 

• Trade qualification in Boilermaking or Metal Fabrication – Essential 
• Proven experience in workshop fabrication and welding
• Strong MIG welding skills and knowledge of fabrication techniques 
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings 
• Experience working with steel or other fabricated metal components 
• Confident using workshop machinery and fabrication equipment 
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship 
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety 
• Reliable, motivated and able to work independently or within a team 

Highly Regarded: 

• Experience in heavy steel fabrication or mining equipment manufacturing 
• Background in architectural metalwork or aluminium fabrication 
• Experience fabricating truck bodies, attachments or industrial equipment 
• Knowledge of custom fabrication and precision engineering 
• TIG or flux-core welding experience 
• Experience working with thick plate steel and structural components
