Expertech is currently looking for an experienced Azure Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the cloud and identity integration of a newly acquired business into a global energy organisation. You will play a key role in consolidating Azure environments and aligning cloud infrastructure with the parent organisation's technology landscape. The role spans Microsoft Entra ID, Azure subscriptions, networking and security, requiring someone who can translate integration requirements into practical technical plans and execute them effectively. This is a senior, client-facing consulting opportunity for an Azure specialist who has previously consolidated cloud environments following an acquisition and can contribute immediately. The engagement is a 6-12 month fixed-term contract, based in Melbourne, with an ASAP start. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with some time in the Melbourne office required to support technical workshops, collaboration and integration planning.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in complex enterprise environments.
- Proven experience consolidating Azure environments following an acquisition or similar integration.
- Strong consulting background and experience working directly with clients.
- Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise identity integration.
- Experience with Azure subscriptions, resource organisation and cloud environment consolidation.
- Understanding of Azure networking, connectivity and security requirements during integration.
- Ability to assess existing environments, identify dependencies and develop practical integration and migration plans.
- Experience managing technical risks, resolving issues and coordinating delivery with wider infrastructure and security teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience delivering cloud integration as part of an M&A programme.
- Background in the energy, utilities or critical infrastructure sectors.
- Exposure to environments where IT and operational technology (OT) operate side by side.
- Experience with enterprise cloud governance, security controls and landing zone design.
- Familiarity with integrating cloud platforms into a broader enterprise technology and identity architecture.
