Assistant Accountant | 12-Month Contract

Category 5 Labour Management is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a 12-month contract. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will support daily accounting operations, reconciliations, month-end processes and financial reporting. This hands-on role offers plenty of variety and a great opportunity to further develop your accounting skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and post journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
- Process invoices and employee expense claims
- Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions
- Assist with annual audits and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for the Financial Controller
About You:
We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working with numbers, systems and deadlines.
To be successful, you will have:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA/CPA qualification or currently working towards it
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar role
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and time management skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team
