Architectural Student / Graduate of Architecture

DesignInc Brisbane | Full time preferred; part time considered

DesignInc Brisbane is seeking an architectural student nearing completion of their studies or a recent graduate to join our team.

We are more interested in your attitude, willingness to learn and contribution to our office culture than the amount of experience on your CV. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works hard, supports others and is keen to develop their skills.

Full time employment is preferred, but we will consider part time arrangements for the right candidate, including those completing their studies.

About us

DesignInc Brisbane works across commercial, industrial, defence, community, education and sport and recreation projects. As part of the national DesignInc federation, we combine the close working relationships of a local studio with the knowledge and resources of a broader architectural practice.

About the role

Working under the guidance of experienced architects, you will contribute to design and documentation across a range of projects. Your responsibilities will grow as your skills and confidence develop.

You will:

  • Assist with design development, Revit modelling, drawings, presentations and project documentation.
  • Research materials, building systems and project requirements.
  • Follow practice procedures, checklists and quality assurance processes.
  • Review your work against instructions and identify issues for discussion with your supervisor.
  • Keep project records organised and complete assigned tasks thoroughly and on time.
  • Communicate progress, ask questions and raise difficulties early.
  • Develop an understanding of client needs and how your work contributes to project outcomes.
  • Participate in team discussions, learning sessions and knowledge sharing.

About you

You are studying architecture, nearing completion of your qualification or have recently graduated. Previous practice experience is welcome, but is not essential.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is keen to learn: listens, asks thoughtful questions, seeks guidance and responds positively to feedback.
  • Works hard and takes ownership: follows through on tasks, meets agreed deadlines and keeps others informed.
  • Contributes to our team culture: is respectful, cooperative, reliable and willing to help colleagues.
  • Takes pride in their work: is organised, checks their work and strives for accuracy and quality.
  • Shows initiative: looks for practical solutions while recognising when guidance or approval is needed.
  • Communicates clearly: develops effective written and verbal communication and behaves professionally with colleagues, consultants and clients.
  • Acts with integrity: demonstrates sound judgement, ethical behaviour and respect for practice values.
  • Has an interest in architecture and construction: is keen to build their understanding of design, building systems and the wider industry.

Familiarity with Revit and architectural presentation software would be an advantage. You do not need to arrive knowing everything; you do need to be willing to learn and put that learning into practice.

What we offer

  • Guidance and mentoring from experienced architects.
  • Exposure to a varied range of projects and stages of delivery.
  • Opportunities to develop your design, technical and professional skills.
  • A collaborative studio with regular learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Increasing responsibility as your capabilities develop.

Citizenship and security requirements

Due to the nature of Defence related work, applicants must be Australian citizens. Candidates will need to hold a current Baseline Security Clearance or be willing to obtain one. DesignInc will support the successful candidate through the clearance application process.

How to apply

Please submit your CV, a concise portfolio and a short cover letter telling us about yourself, why you would like to join DesignInc Brisbane and what you would bring to our team.

Please also confirm your Australian citizenship, anticipated graduation date where relevant, and availability for full time or part time work.
