We value creating opportunities, helping build regional and remote areas, and supporting Australian businesses by unlocking potential wherever it exists. Being 'For Australia' means delivering lasting benefits for today and for generations to come.

About the role

At Hancock Iron Ore, we are committed to responsible resource development and protecting the natural environment while supporting safe, sustainable operations. We are looking for an Advisor Environment – Execution, to join our site-based environment team and help deliver strong environmental performance across our operational sites.

Reporting to the Supervisor Environment - Execution, this role supports the implementation of environmental management strategies and operational compliance with relevant legislation, approvals and company standards across site activities. Working closely with operations, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders, you will help embed environmental compliance into day-to-day activities and contribute to a culture of environmental stewardship.

This is a great opportunity for an environmental professional keen to build and grow their career in mining, with exposure to operational compliance, monitoring programs, stakeholder engagement, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties

  • Maintain site environmental compliance through the implementation of approvals
  • Conduct monitoring activities and maintain accurate records
  • Undertake environmental reporting, audits and inspections
  • Identify environmental risks and help drive practical improvement initiatives
  • Identify environmental incidents and support incident response and corrective action follow-up
  • Oversee and coordinate contractors and consultants to meet environmental obligations
  • Provide accurate and purposeful advice to the operational teams in relation to environmental matters
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement both internal and external

  • Ability to support environmental compliance across projects and operational areas
  • Demonstrated experience communicating environmental information and establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fauna handling certification and/or practical fauna handling experience is desirable but not essential

Experience in mining, resources or another heavy industry environment, including FIFO or remote-area work, will be highly regarded. An understanding of environmental compliance, monitoring, reporting, audits, incident investigations and corrective actions is desirable. Experience in contractor or consultant management, environmental systems, GIS or spatial tools, rehabilitation or land management, and fauna spotting in accordance with Western Australian regulatory requirements will also be viewed favourably.
