Accounts Payable Officer – 6-Month Contract
I'm looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a busy finance team on a 6-month contract in a varied role that goes beyond traditional accounts payable. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
You’ll play an important role in ensuring supplier payments are processed accurately and on time, while also supporting daily banking, reconciliations and receipting activities. There’s also plenty of opportunity to contribute to process improvements and help drive efficiencies across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and payments
- Ensure invoices are appropriately approved in line with internal policies
- Process employee reimbursements and manage payment allocations and reconciliations
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Manage daily banking activities, including receipting and allocating payments from customers and suppliers
- Process end-of-month direct debit and credit card transactions
- Prepare and process manual payments, including supplier payments, payroll and customer refunds
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, account queries and refund requests
- Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end processes
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers and customers
About You
You’re a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who takes ownership of your work and enjoys being part of a collaborative team. You have a strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- At least three years’ experience in accounting, with a strong focus on accounts payable and receivable
- understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication skills
- Experience using an ERP or finance system
- A positive, hands-on approach
